The priorities established by the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Greater Hartford (ULGH) guide our approach to the way we serve individuals and families. Many of our clients face multiple barriers to self-sufficiency. To meet these needs each department - Education and Youth, Economic Enrichment, and Employment and Training - works together to address and provide the best customer service possible in a comprehensive, coordinated fashion.
Our "bottom line" is self-sufficiency and family economic success for all of our clients. For example, a child in our youth program will receive after school academic enrichment and tutoring, and their parents will be offered the totality of Urban League services as needed. These services can include health education and support services, first time home ownership counseling, adult education, employability skills training, computer training, financial education and parenting/communication skills training.
We recognize that families make the community. We work with families and our public and private partners to eliminate educational and economic disparities in our community.
