Workforce Development & Training

The goal of Urban League of Greater Hartford Workforce Development and Training Department is to provide employment skills and occupational training to individuals in the Capital Region so they may enter or re-enter the workforce leading to economic self-sufficiency.

Employment

Focuses on helping job seekers develop the skills necessary for getting, keeping, and doing well on the job. Our Employability Skills Training classes cover business communication, resume writing, customer service, computer literacy, interview skills, and job searching, and help to develop the personal qualities employers seek.  Urban League offers a broad range of employment services and we have a class to suit any customer’s individual needs. The Workforce Department also sponsors the largest diversity Career Fair in the Metro Hartford region every Spring.

Support Services

Attendees at the 2013 Career Fair.Upon completion of Urban League of Greater Hartford training and employment programs, each participant will be given a referral to either Dress for Success (females) or the Urban League of Greater Hartford Men’s Professional Attire Program to receive free professional attire for job interviews and employment. Our staff will continue to work with all participants during the job search phase, and will support them to retain employment as they work to achieve their goal of economic independence.
