Home buyer Education Class Descriptions

Are you interested in learning more about buying a home? Join us for one of our upcoming classes. Learn what's needed to becoming a successful home owner. Individual financial and credit counseling sessions are offered to participants completing a class. These sessions are designed to get you ready to purchase your home.

Pre-Closing Education Class- 3 Hour Class

Provides an overview of the financial and practical steps involved in buying and maintaining a home. This class is offered to CHFA loan applicants  under the Downpayment Assistance Program, the Homeownership Program and the Home of Your Own Loan Program. It's also offered to Habitat for Humanity applicants. Applicants need to be referred by the lender or mortgage provider.

First Time Homeowners/Pre-Purchase Education 8 Hour Class

Provides in-depth instruction on the steps towards home ownership to anyone interested in buying their first home. The class is also mandatory for CHFA loan applicants under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Home ownership Program.  Individual financial and credit counseling sessions are also available.

 NOTE: These are ALL Saturday Classes from 8:45am - 5:00pm

Next class is on March 7, 2020. Registration begins January 24.

Landlord Education Class

The Landlord Education Class provides an overview on the range of financial and practical topics that a home buyer should understand prior to purchasing a 2-4 family home. Owning a multi-family home, is running a business.  In this class participants will receive the useful tools and knowledge every landlord should know.

This three-hour course covers the importance of managing money and understanding credit to help you avoid financial pitfalls. Participants will get an overview of the practical steps of financial services, savings and budget planning. In addition, they will learn how to effectively monitor, build and maintain their credit history. Class is open to any interested individual
