Hartford Healthy Start

Hartford Healthy Start is a program that helps low income pregnant women and mothers deliver healthy and happy babies. Its primary goal is to reduce the infant mortality and morbidity rate in the City of Hartford.  The main purpose of this program is to:

  • Improve Women's Health
  • Promote Quality Services
  • Strengthen Family Resilience
  • To Have Positive Birth Outcomes

The Hartford Healthy Start has an Outreach worker that recruits mothers and helps refer them to appropriate  resources. She works with moms on their personal goals suitable for them and their babies.

    Strong Families : Strong Futures

In partnership with the City of Hartford Office of Early Childhood and the Village, Urban League Outreach Workers promote home visiting services that will help parents and caregivers of children prenatal to age five strengthen their bonds with their children and increase parenting skills through an increased understanding of child development.

We accept referrals to the program through service providers, or families can access services directly by contacting:

    JUMP- Just Us Moving Program

The goal of the Just Us Moving Program is to educate the community on the importance of increased physical activity.  Here at the Connecticut Convergence Institute, we believe that small changes in daily activity can result in substantial health benefits.

Sponsored by the Aetna Foundation, we offer FREE monthly JUMP events which are hosted by our trusted community partners at various convenient locations. These fun-filled programs include a section on healthy lifestyle education as well as a guided movement segment, which can be modified for handicapped participants.  We welcome people of all ages from kids to grandparents, so join us to learn how to increase your daily movement while adding fun to your routine!  Check out our schedule for upcoming events.

    Health Cafe

The Health Cafe is a traveling speaker series that builds on the success of UConn Health's Science Cafes. Topics are generated via community feedback and are coordinated in partnership with local community organizations. These events are completely free and no prior knowledge is required to attend seminars.
